OAKRUM BAPTIST CHURCH
OUR BELIEFS
The Bible is the Word of God and the guide for our beliefs and behavior.
Jesus is the Son of God, and that through salvation, we are offered eternal life. Acceptance of Christ as our personal Lord and savior is the door to eternal life.
Baptism is the public expression of that inward choice to accept Chirst as personal Lord and savior. We baptize by immersion in water, as Jesus was himself.
As Christians, we are called to become disciples of Jesus who tell the good news of salvation, provide service to others, study God's Word, and develop a personal relationship with God.

Our Covenant

Having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior, and on the profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Ghost, we have joyfully and solemnly entered into a covenant with God and one another to:
-
Walk together in Christian love by the aid of the Holy Spirit
-
Strive for the advancement of our church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort to promote out church’s prosperity and spirituality to sustain its worship, ordinance, discipline, and doctrine
-
Contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel throughout all nations
-
Engage to maintain family and secret devotions, educate religiously our children, and seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances
-
Walk circumspectly in the worlds, be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment, avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger, and be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior
-
Engage to watch over one another in brotherly love, remember each other in prayer, aid each other in sickness and distress, cultivate Christian sympathy, feeling, and courtesy in speech, be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior to seek it without delay
